Christyne Ghiselli

POW! Kids Instructor: Christy is a newer addition to the POW! Kids Chicago Staff. Christy recently graduated from UIC with her degree in Kinesiology & Nutrition. In spring of 2012, Christy interned at POW! and began working with the POW! Kids Chicago program.
Growing up Christy was in theater classes, gymnastics, and dance. Expressing herself and expending as much energy outside of the house were her parent’s goals by keeping her so active. While she gave up many of those activities in high school, she has become even more active now through various forms of exercise, group fitness, and personal training. She was a camp counselor for 3 summers, and has regularly nannied for 10 years for families in the city and north suburbs. Currently, Christy is a full-time Personal Trainer at River North Gym in the Merchandise Mart. She is continuing to learn and grow in the health and fitness industry and is excited to take the next journey life puts in her lap.

As you read this, Anya is in the process of earning her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at Loyola University.
Anya loves to develop creative works from the place where body and mind work together, but mostly loves to share this experience with young people. Anya’s approach to teaching revolves around establishing reasonable, yet challenging, standards-based goals that work to inspire the mind, body, and soul of each student. Anya works alongside her students to help them discover their own learning processes and skills. Her classes culminate in showings that are open to families, so that students have a moment to showcase their hard work and be proud of their accomplishments.
Anya also loves to blow bubbles, eat big salads with avocado and almonds in them, sing in the shower, and ride her bike across this big city.
